Family Tree Builder

1. I have a big family which keeps on expanding
2. I live far away from most of them
3. I have terrible memory (being old and things like that... you know)

Those are my top three arguments why I sometime (or often) forget about things related to my family. Some examples: the date of my parent's marriage, my brother in law's birthday, or even the name of my one year old cousin. Now I'd like to say goodbye for all those fake arguments by introducing a geeky way to keep all family-related information in a sophisticated way: Family Tree Builder.

Family Tree Builder is a genealogy software (for Windows only) which can be downloaded for free at http://www.myheritage.com/family-tree-builder. I like this software a lot, especially since it offers some nice features such as: integration with myheritage.com (allows me to share and let others review the information on the web, though without capability of multi-user editing), photograph for every family member (and events), event reminder (birthday, marriage, etc), and also possibility to input unsure information for date (i.e. birthday around January 1982).

  4. Personally, I think it's a very cute, nice, and useful tool :D. It helps in managing and organizing "important" data related to our family, and makes us realize how big our family is. But actually the problem is when we are making this family tree. Suddenly we realize that we forget a lot of things about them... well well it makes me aware how lack is my loyalty as a family member :">

january 1982? ;;) the date is 22nd, bib. But, I don't think we are closely related. You have to draw a very big tree :)

  12. I have a tree complete for me.I am making one for my sister, but I don't want to have to enter all 200 individual people again. Is there any way that I can just take all the ancestors on my tree and put them on hers?

  14. I really would like a tree house form my son 9 and daughter 7 before they get too old to enjoy one. I've been looking for a tree house builder for some time now, however, there aren't any local builders.

  15. I would think that tree house building would be covered by general carpenters. I suspect there aren't many contractors that specializes in tree house building.

  16. It WILL allow you to choose which persons you need to work with. You also can use this if you ever decide you want to use a different genealogy program. Gedcom is the standard "language".

  17. My cousin uses it. He has a Mac. It has a user base of tens of thousands. There are Reunion forums on GenForum and Ancestry. Big cities have user clubs.

  18. Well I'm not sure about mac. I have family tree builder from My Heritage.com you can email them and ask if it would work on yours.

  19. Documentation is the meat of genealogy. Trying to find people to build your family tree isn't a way to get a good verifiable family tree. There are lots of websites. You have to differentiate between original source records and subscriber submitted family trees.
